Experiment and simulation of turbulent flow in local scour around a spur dyke

TL;DR: In this paper, the turbulent flow in the local scour hole around a single non-submerged spur dyke is investigated with both experimental and numerical methods, and a 3D non-linear k -ɛ model is developed to simulate the complex local flow field around the scour area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Driftwood deposition from debris flows at slit-check dams and fans

TL;DR: In this paper, the deposition process of debris flows carrying driftwood was investigated using numerical simulations and flume experiments, and the jamming of driftwood in a slit-check dam was evaluated based on geometry and probability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Urban inundation simulation considering road network and building configurations

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors developed a new urban inundation model that can reflect real field situation, and two kinds of simulations are carried out with homogeneous meshes and non-homogeneous ones using manholes and storm drains as discharge exchange spots, respectively, and those results are compared to estimate the effect of road networks and building groups according to different discharge exchange locations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bed morphology and grain size characteristics around a spur dyke

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental study on the local bed morphology and grain size characteristics around an impermeable spur dyke is presented, in which the authors found that the heterogeneity of the sediment exerts an influence on detailed bed topographies around the sparsification, but does not influence the typical features of scourdeposition morphologies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of hydraulic structures on river morphological processes

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the flow characteristics and sediment transport process influenced by bandal-like structures through laboratory experiments under live-bed scour condition with sediment supplied from the inlet for two submergence (non-submerged and submerged) conditions.
