The invention provides an ecological fish-farming method. The ecological fish-farming method is characterized in that water treatment is carried out by using Chinese herbal medicines so as to prevent fish diseases. In a typical embodiment of the invention, a Chinese herbal medicine composition comprising thymus quinquecostatus, radix glycyrrhizae, radix bupleuri, radix scutellariae, roots of Chinese pulsatilla, rhizoma cimicifugae and garlic is added into a fishpond for farming gold-wing carps with good effect. In a preferable implementation way, the fishpond is kept to be communicated with an external outer source, so that water is changed with small flow per day; water diversion quantity is 1/32 to 1/4 the volume of fishpond water; and flow regulation is carried out according to different seasons. The fish-farming method disclosed by the invention can keep good water quality, and is beneficial for healthy growth of freshwater fish; chemicals are not required, so that green ecological farming is realized, and therefore, common carp fry can be farmed into gold-wing carps.

Ecological fish-farming method

Provided is a high-density culture method for litopenaeus stylirostris. The high-density culture method comprises following steps: 1, selecting each pond having sand content, 3 to 10 mu in an area and 1.8 to 2.5m in water depth, equipped with water-feeding and water-drainage facilities in absence of pollution, 2, cleaning and disinfecting the pond prior to free culture; 3, selecting and freely culturing stylirostris seeds, particularly selecting strong, non-injurious and virus-free seeds; 4, feeding seeds with feedstuff in accordance with three phases including feeding in small amount at an early phase, feeding artificial compound feed every day at a medium phase of cultivation and feeding fresh baits at a late phase of cultivation; 5, preventing and curing diseases and splashing lime water regularly; 6, performing daily management such as regular monitoring physical, chemical factors and biological factors of water in the culture pond and bottom material and paying attention to regular water-drainage and water-renewing. By taking the above culture method, high-density artificial feeding in the finite pond and high-quality litopenaeus stylirostris is cultured so that the requirement of the market is satisfied.

Streptococcus agalactiae is a relevant cause of neonatal mortality. It can be transferred to infants via the vaginal tract and cause meningitis, pneumonia, arthritis, or sepsis, among other diseases. The cause of therapy ineffectiveness and infection recurrence is the growth of bacteria as biofilms. To date, several research teams have attempted to find a suitable medium for the cultivation of S. agalactiae biofilms. Among others, simulated vaginal fluid has been used; however, biofilm production in this medium has been found to be lower than that in tryptic soy broth. We have previously shown that S. agalactiae can be successfully eradicated by photoinactivation in planktonic culture, but there have been no studies on biofilms. The aim of this study was to optimize S. agalactiae biofilm culture conditions to be used in photoinactivation studies. We compared biofilm production by four strains representing the most common serotypes in four different broth media with crystal violet staining. Then, we evaluated stationary biofilm culture in microtiter plates and biofilm growth in a CDC Biofilm Reactor® (BioSurface Technologies, Bozeman, MT, USA) under continuous flow conditions. Subsequently, we applied Rose Bengal-mediated photoinactivation to both biofilm models. We have shown that photoinactivation is efficient in biofilm eradication and is not cyto/phototoxic to human keratinocytes. We found conditions allowing for stable and repetitive S. agalactiae biofilm growth in continuous flow conditions, which can be successfully utilized in photoinactivation assays and potentially in all other antibacterial studies.

Streptococcus agalactiae, referred to as group B streptococcus (GBS), is a prominent co-pathogenic bacterium causing the onset and death of human, animal, and aquatic products. Although antibiotics are efficient against GBS, antibiotic resistance through antibiotic overuse is an equally serious problem. Therefore, the treatment of GBS infection appears strongly dependent on nonantibiotic therapy, such as photodynamic therapy. Different from other photosensitizers (PSs), luminogens with aggregation-induced emission (AIEgen) can efficiently generate fluorescence and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Herein, TBP-1, an efficient AIE PSs, is chosen to resist GBS, and its antibacterial activity and the killing mechanism toward GBS are investigated. The ROS generation performance and the images of GBS treated with TBP-1 in the dark or under white light irradiation were investigated. TBP-1 with its high ROS generation ability can efficiently kill GBS and serve as a novel treatment strategy against GBS infection.

\n In the present study, we investigated the effect of probiotics immobilized by oyster shells (Os), vesuvianite (Ve) and walnut shells (Ws) on the remediation of aquaculture water and sediment by analyzing the variation of ammonia-nitrogen (NH4–N), nitrate-nitrogen (NO3–N), nitrite-nitrogen (NO2–N), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and chemical oxygen demand (CODCr), as well as the microbiota of the water and sediment. The positive or negative effects of the treatment groups on the water quality parameters were both observed. Compared with their effects on water quality parameters, the treatment groups had better effects on sediment parameters. Group Ve had the best remediation effect of NH4–N and NO3–N in the sediment (decreased by 5.22 and 1.66 times, respectively). Group Os showed a lower relative concentration of TN and CODCr (decreased by 3.77 and 0.95 times, respectively). The high-throughput sequencing results revealed that the immobilized probiotics increased the relative abundances of functional bacteria in the treatment groups at the phylum and genus level. The above results showed that probiotics immobilized by oyster shells, vesuvianite and walnut shells positively affected the aquaculture environment's remediation, especially the sediment.
