Since both "identity" and "nature" are slippery terms, the introduction sets out their parameters. Personal identity emerges in a social context that includes interpersonal and group memberships. Thus identity has a cultural and social aspect. The experience of nature is rooted in a social and cultural experience. Environmental identity can be conceptualized as occurring along a continuum. Identity and the Natural Environment is divided into sections based on the degree of social influence on environmental identity, ranging from the minimal to the strong. Steven J. Holmes in the opening essay surveys the available literature/theories on identity and the natural environment. The first section of the book deals with a minimal degree of social influence, and is therefore titled "Experiencing Nature as Individuals." Susan Clayton's essay defines environmental identity as a meaningful source of self-definition. Her research findings demonstrate conclusively that environmental identity relates to values, attitudes and behaviors. Gene Myers and Ann Russell examine the human-natural interactions that produce an environmental identity. Ulrich Gebhard et al analyze how children use human identity to construct an anthropomorphic identity for natural objects. They demonstrate how such a construction of identity - interpreting human identity in terms of nature or natural objects, what they term "physiomorphism" (as opposed to "anthropomorphism") - enables children to develop a form of empathy with nature. Peter Kahn, Jr. comes to a similar conclusion in his research on children and the environment, arguing that children use either anthropocentric or biocentric ways to think about the non-human environment. He suggests that environmental identity must be talked about in terms of both multiplicity and unity. Elisabeth Kals and Heidi Ittner also focus on children, specifically their motives for nature-protective behavior. They conclude that nature-protective behavior in children stems from a combination of emotional attachment to nature and moral concern about threats to nature. In Section II of the book, the essays deal with moderate social influence on environmental identity. Focusing on social and community contexts, the essays in this section research the concerns about environmental justice constructed at local levels. According to available evidence, the current Mpox spread can be referred to the West African clade.6 This zoonotic pathogen has a diverse host range, providing virus dissemination in wild animals for a long time while sporadically spilling over into human populations.5 Person-to-person transmission can occur through direct contact with respiratory droplets, sores, scabs, and body fluids and indirect contact by sharing contaminated fomites such as bedding or clothing.7,8 Prior to the current outbreak, the majority of cases had histories of animal exposure. Nonetheless, during the 2022 outbreak, skin-to-skin contact accounted for the majority of cases. Intriguingly, the majority of them reported sexual contact, most frequently with men who have sex with men and bisexual men.9 Mpox clinical manifestations include typical features such as fever, headaches, lymphadenopathy, and flulike symptoms, followed by the development of a characteristic rash. However, in the 2022 outbreak, atypical symptoms such as characteristic rash limited to the genital, perigenital, and perianal areas with different developmental stages were observed. It is important to consider patients as infectious from the beginning of the prodrome or rash until the scabs fall off.8,9 The preferred diagnostic test for identifying a person with suspected active Mpox infection is to examine samples taken from a skin lesion usingmolecular tests such as polymerase chain reaction.8,10 To effectively treat Mpox, it is necessary to develop medications with specific viral targets.6 Antiviral medications for Mpox treatment have not yet received official approval.11 Considering the number of reported Mpox mortalities and the severity of Mpox in some patients, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women, the study of antiviral therapies

The aim of this study is to examine the potential of theatrical practices, namely solo performances, as an effective tool that could positively address climate change crisis and reform human behavior in relation to the environment. Environment-related scientific data showcase that there is an impending danger that will engulf the whole world if radical proactive action is not taken as regards to humans’ action towards the environment which results in pollution, climatic change, and the appalling increase in the rate of carbon dioxide inhaled by man that causes several carcinogenic diseases. This study will analyze two solo performances that are co-written by a scientist and a playwright, namely Stephen Emmott’s Ten Billion (2013) and Chris Rapely’s and Duncan MacMillan’s 2071 (2014). The aim of this study is to examine Radio Drama as a rich art form with distinctive qualities that could address serious issues and have a far-reaching influence on listeners. The resurgence of Radio Drama can be attributed to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic; however, there are a plethora of outstanding plays that tackle significant subject matters and are worthy of study. The researcher attempts the following questions: Can Radio Drama be considered an art form per se? Can Radio Drama be as influential as stage drama? The researcher compares two radio dramas: John Dryden’s Pandemic (2012) and Martin Millien’s COVID39 (2020). The first play predicts the future and visualizes the stages that have led up to the outbreak of a deadly pandemic across the world, and the latter tackles the mental, psychological, and socio-political repercussions of COVID-19 after the lapse of 20 years. To provide a theoretical framework for the plays under study, the researcher employs the theory of narratology and draws upon the works of Elke Huwiler who was the first to apply the latter theory to Radio Drama. The researcher proves that both Dryden and Millien through their compelling radio dramas unravel the social and political problems in connection with the pandemic. Dryden, on the one hand, unveils the unscrupulousness and indifference of governmental officials which act as determinants of the pandemic outbreak. On the other hand, Millien unfolds the incessant discriminatory experiences of racism in the United States of America.

The Revival of Radio Drama: A Narratological Analysis of John Dryden’s Pandemic (2012) and Martin Millien’s COVID39 (2020)

Background : Enteric colonization with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) in acute leukemic pediatric patients may constitute a major risk for serious infections as bloodstream infections (BSI), particularly during periods of neutropenia, and contribute significantly to increased morbidity and mortality. Objective: To assess the frequency of MDRO isolation from stool cultures of pediatric patients with acute leukemia and its relationship with blood culture positivity and mortality. Patients and Methods : The study involved analysis of pediatric patients with newly diagnosed acute leukemia less than 18 years of age from January 2019 to June 2019 in Zagazig University Hospital, a total of 60 patients were included in this study. Stool cultures were sent within 48 hours of hospital admission and blood cultures were sent when clinically indicated. Isolates were identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) analysis. Antimicrobial susceptibility was tested using VITEK-2. The survival rate for all patients was followed up for 60 days. Results : Blood culture results were positive in a significantly higher ratio of patients with positive stool culture (36.1%) compared to those with negative stool culture (12.5%) (P=0.043). Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli (E. coli) were the most frequently isolated MDRO from positive stool cultures (40% and 31%, respectively), while E. coli was the most frequent MDRO isolated from blood (50%). MDRO were isolated from stool cultures of 32 patients with a frequency of (53.8 %). Among patients with positive stool and blood cultures, mortality was significantly higher (P < 0.029) among those with MDRO isolated from both cultures compared to those isolating non-MDRO (85.7% vs 16.7%). Conclusion: Newly diagnosed children with acute leukemia have a high frequency of enteric colonization by MDRO, which is significantly associated with increased positivity of blood cultures and mortality.
