Structure, above-ground biomass and dynamics of mangrove ecosystems: new data from French Guiana
TL;DR: Based on the relationships between structural parameters and standing biomass, in particular with the use of the “self-thinning rule”, population dynamics models are proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aboveground and belowground biomass, productivity and nutrient accumulation in tree improved fallows in the dry tropics of Cameroon
TL;DR: The results show that in the long term, in comparison to removal of timber at the end of the rotation, annual harvesting of grass for fodder in tree fallows in the Sudanian zone of Africa, would be an equally important or even a more serious risk to site fertility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chorology of New Caledonian palms and possible evidence of Pleistocene rain forest refugia.
TL;DR: These areas are interpreted as former Pleistocene refugia of lowland rain forest based on three lines of evidence: all locally endemic lowland palm species and genera are restricted to these areas; local endemics occur on east-facing slopes receiving the highest rainfall and most likely to have sustained rain forests during the driest periods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phosphorus content in five representative landscape units of the Lomas de Arequipa (Atacama Desert-Peru)
TL;DR: In this paper, the phosphorus forms and content were studied in soils of the Lomas de Arequipa (Atacama desert, Peru) using a fractionation method.
Journal ArticleDOI
Caractérisation des chutes de litière et des apports au sol en nutriments dans une mangrove de Guyane française
TL;DR: Litter falls and their contributions to soil nutriments were measured in five distinct facies of a mangrove in French Guyana, and litter appeared rich in phosphorous, corresponding with the high concentrations characterizing the sediments.
