Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C virus prevalence in The Netherlands: migrants account for most infections.
TL;DR: The outcomes of recent studies in the general Dutch population as well as recent HCV data from specific risk groups including migrants, men who have sex with men (MSM) and injecting drug users (IDUs), were implemented in a modified version of the Workbook Method, to estimate Dutch HCV seroprevalence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence and persistence of carcinogenic genital human papillomavirus infections in young women with or without Chlamydia trachomatis co-infection.
Henrike J. Vriend,Johannes A. Bogaards,Jan E. A. M. van Bergen,Antoinette A. T. P. Brink,Ingrid V F van den Broek,Christian J. P. A. Hoebe,Audrey J. King,Marianne A B van der Sande,Petra F. G. Wolffs,Hester E. de Melker +9 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, infection with chlamydia increases the risk of infection by carcinogenic HPV types and may enhance persistence of some HPV types, and although these findings could reflect residual confounding through unobserved risk factors, they do give reason to explore more fully the association between chlam Lydia and HPV type‐specific acquisition and persistence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patterns of human papillomavirus DNA and antibody positivity in young males and females, suggesting a site-specific natural course of infection.
Henrike J. Vriend,Johannes A. Bogaards,Fiona R. M. van der Klis,Mirte Scherpenisse,Hein J. Boot,Audrey J. King,Marianne A B van der Sande +6 more
TL;DR: Genital HPV DNA positivity rates were higher in women than in men; anal HPV DNA was especially high in men who have sex with men (MSM).
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C in the general population of various ethnic origins living in the Netherlands: Should non-Western migrants be screened?
Anouk T. Urbanus,T.J.W. van de Laar,A van den Hoek,F. Zuure,Arjen G. C. L. Speksnijder,Gijs Baaten,Titia Heijman,Henrike J. Vriend,E L M Op de Coul,R. A. Coutinho,Maria Prins +10 more
TL;DR: Phylogenetic analysis showed that the majority of the HCV-positive, first-generation non-Western non-European migrants were infected with endemic strains which are rarely observed in Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C virus seroprevalence in the Netherlands.
Henrike J. Vriend,Eline L. M. Op de Coul,Thijs J. W. van de Laar,Anouk T. Urbanus,Fiona R. M. van der Klis,Hein J. Boot +5 more
TL;DR: This national population-based cross-sectional serosurvey resulted in a weighted national HCV seroprevalence of 0.30% (95% confidence interval 0.05-0.55%).
