Joris van Hoboken onderzocht de betekenis van het fundamentele recht op vrijheid van meningsuiting voor de rechtspositie van zoekmachines. Zijn onderzoek richtte zich op de juiste rol van de overheid ten aanzien van de wijze waarop dit nieuwe medium informatie op internet ontsluit. Van Hoboken concludeert dat de gebruikers van zoekmachines, de aanbieders van informatie, en de zoekmachine allen een eigen beroep op de vrijheid van meningsuiting toekomt. Hij werkt deze conclusie verder uit in een analyse van actuele rechtsvragen in het zoekmachinerecht waarin de vrijheid van meningsuiting een belangrijke rol speelt. Hij doet aanbevelingen over de verantwoordelijkheid van zoekmachines voor de ontsluiting van onrechtmatige informatie, het belang van een pluriforme publieke informatievoorziening en de rol van zoekmachines daarin, de transparantie ten aanzien van de werking van zoekmachines en commerciele communicatie, en de bescherming van de privacy van gebruikers vanuit hun belang op intellectuele vrijheid.

A framework for evaluating electronic commerce adoption in Iranian companies

This article examines the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) accounting standard setting process from an institutional theory perspective. It identifies three forms of institutional pressures and examines their impact on the PFI standard setting process. ‘Coercive’ pressure, exerted by the Treasury, and ‘normative’ pressure, exerted by the accounting profession, were influential in shaping respondents' comments on the PFI accounting Exposure Draft (ED). It is argued that the views of the accounting profession seem to have prevailed in the PFI standard setting process. This might stem from its institutional legitimacy and close ties with the Accounting Standards Board (ASB). In line with its broader policy objective of adopting private sector business practices in the public sector, the Treasury has eventually ‘acquiesced’ to the final PFI accounting standard issued by the ASB.

An institutional theory perspective on the UK's Private Finance Initiative (PFI) accounting standard setting process

Offshore software development outsourcing is a recent and widely used business strategy for the development of high quality products at low cost. The objective of the research presented in this study is to find critical success factors (CSFs) for contract management to assist vendor organisations for successful outcomes of the offshore software outsourcing contract. A systematic literature review (SLR) process was performed for the identification of factors that can assist vendor organisations in successful management of the various activities at different stages of the outsourcing contract. that is, pre-contract, during contract and post-contract. Our findings reveal that ‘contract flexibility, ‘trustworthy relationship management’, ‘competitive bidding’, ‘consultation and negotiation’ and ‘quality management’ are considered as the CSFs for outsourcing vendor organisations in planning, management and execution of outsourcing contract.

Critical success factors for offshore software outsourcing contract management from vendors' perspective: an exploratory study using a systematic literature review

This article examines the scholarly literature pertaining to music, film and software piracy around the world, with special attention to data sources, research scope and general findings. The article finds that the conspicuous absence of methodologies utilizing critical theory in this broad literature has constricted the world view of piracy, resulting in monolithic explanations of the causes and correlates of piracy. It further identifies systematic biases relating to the unjustified use of data published by the industry watchdog Business Software Alliance (BSA).
