Journal ArticleDOI

Changes in fertilization and hatching rates with time after ovulation induced by 17, 20β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one in the Japanese eel, Anguilla japonica

TL;DR: The results indicate that ovulation induced by DHP treatment occurs after a short but well-defined period of time, and that artificial fertilization must be carried out immediately after ovulation in order to obtain good quality eggs.
Journal ArticleDOI

The first success of glass eel production in the world: basic biology on fish reproduction advances new applied technology in aquaculture

TL;DR: With persistent effort to development of rearing techniques of larvae, this work has first succeeded to produce glass eel and applied techniques may contribute to understand the basic reproductive physiology of the eel.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The results indicate that the potassium ion is an essential constituent of the isotonic diluent for cool storage of the Japanese eel spermatozoa.
Journal ArticleDOI

Induced Ovulation by Injection of 17, 20β-Dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one in the Artificially Matured Japanese Eel, with special Reference to Ovulation Time

TL;DR: The results indicate that the time of ovulation depends on the time elapsed after the DHP injection in the eel.
