Plant metabolism and biotechnology
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the biosynthetic pathways of plant metabolites, their function in plants, and some applications for biotechnology, including the induction and reduction of these metabolites using modern biotechnical technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biosynthesis of Purine Alkaloids in Camellia Plants
Hiroshi Ashihara,Hiromi Kubota +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolic fate of guanosine in higher plants
TL;DR: The results suggest that guanosine is an intermediate in the catabolism of guanine nucleotides and that it is re-utilised for nucleotide synthesis by 'salvage' reactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of the formation of nicotinic acid conjugates in leaves of different plant species.
Hiroshi Ashihara,Yuling Yin,Yuling Yin,Riko Katahira,Shin Watanabe,Tetsuro Mimura,Hamako Sasamoto +6 more
TL;DR: Nicotinic acid N-glucoside formation was restricted mostly to ferns and selected orders of angiosperms, whereas other plants produce trigonelline.
Journal ArticleDOI
Caffeine metabolism in high and low caffeine containing cultivars of camellia sinensis
TL;DR: The data obtained suggest that the high caffeine containing cultivars have a more rapid rate of caffeine biosynthesis and a slower rates of caffeine catabolism than cultivars with a low endogenous caffeine content.
