Trace element partition between two pyroxenes and the host lava
TL;DR: Partition coefficients for +1, +2, +3 and +4 valent trace ions between alkaline olivine basalt lava and the coexisting ortho- and clinopyroxene phenocrysts from Takashima, North Kyushu, Japan, have been determined by neutron activation analysis as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Uranium, thorium, and potassium contents of possible mantle materials.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors performed neutron activation analysis on peridotite nodules from continental and oceanic areas and showed that oceanic nodules have more uniform concentrations of U, Th and K and Th/U, K/U ratios than continental nodules.
Journal ArticleDOI
Partition of uranium and thorium between augite and host lavas
Hiroshi Nagasawa,Hiroshi Wakita +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the contents of U and Th in mineral fractions separated from some volcanic lavas and a peridotite nodule have been measured, and Ionic substitution of Ca in clinopyroxene by u and th under equilibrium conditions is proposed for the possible partition mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI
Uranium and thorium contents in ultrabasic rocks
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that oceanic peridotite nodules have more uniform contents of U and Th, and Th/U ratio, than continental ones, and the heat production rate of these lherzolites is about 80% of that of chondrites.
