Purpose: This study is to compare the flexural strength and modulus by inserting a mesh and stick type fiberglass reinforcement into resin specimens. Methods: Wax specimens (length 64 mm, width 39 mm, thickness 5 mm) are prepared according to ISO 20795-1:2013. Mesh type and stick type glass fiber reinforcements were prepared. The prepared wax specimens were used plaster and flask for investment. The flask was separated and the wax was removed. The heat curing resin was injected into the flask, and then a mesh type and stick type fiberglass reinforcement were inserted. The prepared resin specimen was cut into three equal parts (length 64 mm, width 10 mm, thickness 3.3 mm). The mesh type glass fiber reinforcement (MT group) and the stick type glass fiber reinforcement (ST group) were classified into two groups. The prepared specimen was measured using a universal testing machine (UTM). The data were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test, and the significance level was set to 0.05. Results: In the flexural strength, the ST group was higher than the MT group, and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). In the flexural modulus, the ST group was higher than the MT group, and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: The stick-type glass fiber increased the flexural strength than the mesh-type glass fiber reinforcement.

Comparative analysis of strain according to two wavelengths of light source and constant temperature bath deposition in ultraviolet-curing resin for dental three-dimensional printing

Purpose: Fracture strength of all-ceramic 3-unit fixed partial dentures manufactured by CAD/CAM and copymilling systems were evaluated. Methods: Zirconia cores were made by milling the pre-sintered zirconia block by CAD/CAM or copy milling method followed by subsequent sintering. By building-up the corresponding porcelains on the core, all-ceramic bridges were fabricated, and those were evaluated in comparison with PFM fixed partial denture. Results: During the flexural test of the 3-unit PFM bridge, the porcelain started to chip or break at 507.28( 62.82)kgf and the metal framework did not break until the maximum load level of 800kgf which was set in the testing instrument of this study. However, among all-ceramic restoration test groups, Everest(EV) group showed a peeling off or breakage of the porcelain from 365.64( 64.96)kgf and the core was broken at 491.77( 55.62)kgf. Those values of Zirkonzahn(ZR) were 431.03( 58.47)kgf and 602.74( 48.44)kgf, respectively. The break strength of the porcelain of PFM(PM) group was significantly higher than that of EV (p 0.05). ZR group showed higher break strength than that of EV group however there was no significant difference (p>0.05). The break strength of cores were in the increasing order of EV 0.05). [Abstract]

Fracture Strength of All-Ceramic 3-Unit Fixed Partial Dentures Manufactured by CAD/CAM and Copy-Milling Systems

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate composite resins of indirect restorations for testing of flexural strength according to various polymerization methods. Methods: Specimen was produced a total of 40 to 10 per each group with a length 25 mm, width 2 mm, thickness 2 mm using a Teflon zig. The polymerization groups were classified into four groups. The first group proceeded with light curing only(LC group). The second group proceeded with light and heat curing(LHC group). The third group proceeded with air press and light curing(ALC group). The fourth group proceeded with air press, light and heat curing(ALHC group). Each prepared group was evaluated by flexural strength test. Statistical analysis was performed by one-way ANOVA. Post-test was performed with Tukey test. Results: The lowest in the ALC group was 119.18 MPa and the highest in the ALHC group was 168.15 MPa. There were statistically significant differences. Conclusion : The composite resin of the indirect restoration is recommended to heat curing along with the air press.

Flexural strength of composite resin fabricated by various polymerization method

Purpose: Dental casting #Gr I (Co-25Cr-5Mo-3Sn-1Mn-1Si), #Gr II (Co-25Cr-5Mo-5Cu-1Mn -1Si) and #Gr III (Co-25Cr-5Mo-3Sn-5Cu-1Mn-1Si) master alloys of granule type were manufactured the same as manufacturing processes for dental casting Ni-Cr and Co-Cr-Mo based alloys of ingot type. These alloys were analyzed melting processes with heating time of high frequency induction centrifugal casting machine using infrared thermal image analyzer. Methods: These alloys were manufactured such as; alloy design, the first master alloy manufatured using vacuum arc casting machine, melting metal setting in crucible, melting in VIM, pouring in the mold of bar type, cutting the gate and runner bar and polishing. These alloys were put about 30g/charge in the ceramic crucible of high frequency induction centrifugal casting machine and heat, Infrared thermal image analyzer indicated alloys in the crucible were set and operated. Results: The melting temperatures of these alloys measuring infrared thermal image analyzer were decreased in comparison with remanium GM 800+, vera PDI, Biosil f, WISIL M type V, Ticonium 2000 alloys of ingot type and vera PDS(Aabadent, USA), Regalloy alloys of shot type. Conclusion: Co-Cr-Mo based alloy in addition to Sn(#Gr I alloy) were decreased the melting temperature with heating time of high frequency induction centrifugal casting machine using infrared thermal image analyzer.
