Estimation of Arctic Basin-Scale Sea Ice Thickness From Satellite Passive Microwave Measurements

TL;DR: The algorithm is extended to theIce thickness retrieval by using the hydrostatic balance equation, showing that operational basin-scale ice thickness retrieval will be possible from satellite passive microwave measurements if a realistic snow depth on sea ice is employed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simultaneous estimation of wintertime sea ice thickness and snow depth from space-borne freeboard measurements

TL;DR: In this paper, a method of simultaneously estimating snow depth and sea ice thickness using satellite-based freeboard measurements over the Arctic Ocean during winter was proposed, where the ratio of snow depth to ice thickness (referred to as α) was defined and used in constraining the conversion from the freeboard to ice-thickness in satellite altimetry.

Optical Properties of Aerosols Related to Haze Events over Seoul Inferred from Skyradiometer and Satellite-Borne Measurements

TL;DR: In this paper, optical properties of aerosols associated with haze events over Seoul were examined using ground-based skyradiometer and satellite-borne CALIOP and MODIS measurements over the 2009~2010 period.
