Effect of varying load on wear resistance of carbon steel under unlubricated conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of changes in load on the transition behavior between severe and mild wear was investigated in a pin-on-disk type wear test of mild steel in contact with itself.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of oxygen and water vapour on the friction and wear of an aluminium alloy under fretting conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of oxygen and water vapour on the friction and wear behavior of an Al-Zn-Mg alloy under fretting conditions was investigated in wet air, dry air and in dry argon.
Journal ArticleDOI

Wear mechanism of Al–Si alloy impregnated graphite composite under dry sliding

TL;DR: In this article, a pin-on-disk type wear test of a graphite composite in contact with bearing steel was conducted in various gas environments to investigate the wear mechanism under dry sliding.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of ultrasonic vibration on the wear characteristics of a carbon steel: Analysis of the wear mechanism

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple equation for the wear rate of a carbon steel subjected to ultrasonic vibration was derived using the theories of adhesive wear and analytical results of vibration, which were in good agreement with experimental results.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improvement of wear resistance for carbon steel under unlubricated sliding and variable loading conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of rubbing history under mild or severe wear in the first stage on the transition of wear mode in the second stage were investigated, and the upper critical load (P Acr,i ) under increased loading between severe and quasi-mild wear was quite higher than that under constant loading, leading to a considerable improvement in wear resistance.
