Journal ArticleDOI
Fluid shear stress induces a biphasic response of human monocyte chemotactic protein 1 gene expression in vascular endothelium
TL;DR: It is reported that shear stress mediates a biphasic response of monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1) gene expression in vascular endothelial cells (EC) and suggests that this gene is probably suppressed in EC that have been exposed to a constant shear Stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human monocyte colony-stimulating factor stimulates the gene expression of monocyte chemotactic protein-1 and increases the adhesion of monocytes to endothelial monolayers.

TL;DR: The MCSF/MCP-1-dependent adhesive mechanism might be operative in the arterial wall in vivo to lead to the trapping of the infiltrated monocyte-macrophage in the subendothelial space during atherogenesis.
