Human Mobility: Models and Applications
Hugo Barbosa-Filho,Marc Barthelemy,Gourab Ghoshal,Charlotte R James,Maxime Lenormand,Thomas Louail,Ronaldo Menezes,José J. Ramasco,Filippo Simini,Marcello Tomasini +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a survey of approaches developed to reproduce various mobility patterns, with the main focus on recent developments, can be used both as an introduction to the fundamental modeling principles of human mobility, and as a collection of technical methods applicable to specific mobility-related problems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hierarchical organization of urban mobility and its connection with city livability
Aleix Bassolas,Hugo Barbosa-Filho,Brian Dickinson,Xerxes Dotiwalla,Paul Eastham,Riccardo Gallotti,Gourab Ghoshal,Bryant Gipson,Surendra Hazarie,Henry Kautz,Onur Küçüktunç,Allison Lieber,Adam Sadilek,José J. Ramasco +13 more
TL;DR: An anonymous and aggregated flows generated from three hundred million users, opted-in to Location History, are used to extract global Intra-urban trips and a metric of hierarchy in urban travel is introduced and correlations between levels of hierarchy and other urban indicators are found.
Book ChapterDOI
From Criminal Spheres of Familiarity to Crime Networks
TL;DR: It is demonstrated in this paper that crime follows a very intersting spatial community pattern regardless of the type of crime, criminal activity aggregates in communities of well defined sizes and is a first step towards a theory of crime modeling using network science.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reply to: On the difficulty of achieving differential privacy in practice: user-level guarantees in aggregate location data
Aleix Bassolas,Hugo Barbosa-Filho,Brian Dickinson,Xerxes Dotiwalla,Paul Eastham,Riccardo Gallotti,Gourab Ghoshal,Bryant Gipson,Surendra Hazarie,Henry Kautz,Onur Kucuktunc,Allison Lieber,Adam Sadilek,José J. Ramasco +13 more
TL;DR: In the work developed in Bassolas et al. 1, the structure of cities and their impact in city livability using a highly aggregated mobility dataset is studied and it is claimed that the dataset ishighly aggregated and anonymous for all practical purposes.
