Thrombolytic protocol minimizes ischemic-type biliary complications in liver transplantation from donation after circulatory death donors
John Seal,Humberto Bohorquez,Trevor Reichman,Adam Kressel,Anand Ghanekar,Ari J. Cohen,Ian D. McGilvray,Mark S. Cattral,David Bruce,Paul D. Greig,Ian Carmody,David R. Grant,Markus Selzner,George E. Loss +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the impact of intraoperative tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) on outcomes following DCD LT, and concluded that tPA injection into the hepatic artery during DCD transplant reduces ITBSs and improves graft and patient survival without increasing the risk for bleeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Safety and Outcomes in 100 Consecutive Donation After Circulatory Death Liver Transplants Using a Protocol That Includes Thrombolytic Therapy.
Humberto Bohorquez,John Seal,Ari J. Cohen,Adam Kressel,Emily Bugeaud,David Bruce,Ian Carmody,Trevor Reichman,Narendra Battula,M. Alsaggaf,G. Therapondos,N. Bzowej,Gene W. Tyson,Shobha Joshi,Ramona Nicolau-Raducu,Nigel Girgrah,George E. Loss +16 more
TL;DR: Using a protocol that includes a thrombolytic therapy, late DCD LT yielded patient and graft survival rates comparable to DBD LT and an historical DCD group to an historical group and a cohort of DBD recipients had better 1‐ and 3‐year graft survival Rates.

Thrombolytic Protocol Minimizes Ischemic-type Biliary Complications in Liver Transplantation from Donation-After-Cardiac Death Donors
John Seal,Adam Kressel,Anand Ghanekar,Ari J. Cohen,Ian D. McGilvray,Humberto Bohorquez,Mark S. Cattral,David Bruce,Paul D. Greig,Ian Carmody,David M. Grant,Trevor Reichman,Markus Selzner,George E. Loss +13 more
TL;DR: A tPA injection into the hepatic artery during DCD LT reduces ITBSs and improves graft and patient survival without increasing the risk for bleeding.
Journal Article
Tumor Necrosis Factor-α: Life and Death of Hepatocytes During Liver Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury
TL;DR: Because T NF-α plays an important role in hepatocyte proliferation, complete inhibition of TNF-α is not desirable in treating liver I/R injury and the strategy for developing pharmacological therapies may be the identification of specific intermediates in the TNF -α/TNFR1 signal transduction pathway and directed targeting of proapoptotic and pronecroptotic events.
Journal ArticleDOI
Liver transplantation and the management of progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis in children
TL;DR: The role and timing of liver transplantation still remains debated especially in the management of PFIC1, but in those patients who are appropriately selected, liver transplation offers an excellent survival benefit.
