Underground Coal Gasification Review

TL;DR: The feasibility of underground coal gasification has been well established by 21 small scale field tests carried out in the U.S. since 1973 as discussed by the authors, and a large scale test is presently being planned for Centralia, Washington, involving the United States Department of Energy and an industrial consortium led by the Gas Research Institute.

California's Energy Supply and Demand in 1984

I.Y. Borg, +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the contributions of both the principal new components of the state's energy and traditional sources that continue to supply the bulk of the energy consumed are described, as well as unanticipated problems have arisen in connection with the concerted effort to find new energy sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Singular energy trends in California

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compare in detail energy use in California for 1973 and 1983; they also compare U.S. and California patterns for 1983 alone, showing that although energy usage decreased slightly over the decade, it did so concurrently with a 20.5% increase in population.
Journal ArticleDOI

Status of Underground Coal Gasification

TL;DR: Underground coal gasification appears to be one of the most attractive routes for synfuels from coal because the process can produce methanol and substitute natural gas at prices competitive with existing energy sources as mentioned in this paper.
