Journal ArticleDOI
Low calf circumference is an independent predictor of mortality in cancer patients: A prospective cohort study.
Iasmin Matias de Sousa,Renata Moraes Bielemann,Maria Cristina Gonzalez,Ilanna Marques Gomes da Rocha,Erica Roberta Barbalho,Ana Lúcia Miranda de Carvalho,Maria Amélia Marques Dantas,Galtieri Otávio Cunha de Medeiros,Flávia Moraes Silva,Ana Paula Trussardi Fayh +9 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest the use of CC as a simple, easy, cost-effective anthropometric measurement to quickly screen patients at risk of death who could benefit from targeted care to improve their prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low skeletal muscle radiodensity is the best predictor for short-term major surgical complications in gastrointestinal surgical cancer: A cohort study.
Ana Lúcia Miranda de Carvalho,Maria Cristina Gonzalez,Iasmin Matias de Sousa,Isabel Pinto Amorim das Virgens,Galtieri Otávio Cunha de Medeiros,Marília Nelo Oliveira,Jeane Cristina Alves de Souza Dantas,Ana Paula Trussardi Fayh +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated whether body composition, muscle function, and their association are predictive factors for short-term postoperative complications in patients with gastric and colorectal cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nutritional and environmental risk factors for breast cancer: a case-control study
Sandra Azevedo Queiroz,Iasmin Matias de Sousa,Fernanda Rafaella de Melo Silva,Clélia de Oliveira Lyra,Ana Paula Trussardi Fayh +4 more
TL;DR: Higher consumption of ultra-processed food, presence of overweight or obesity, waist circumference ≥88 cm, poor sanitation, and family history of cancer were risk factors for breast cancer in this sample of women living in Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil.
Journal ArticleDOI
Is skeletal muscle radiodensity able to indicate physical function impairment in older adults with gastrointestinal cancer
Erica Roberta Barbalho,Maria Cristina Gonzalez,Renata Moraes Bielemann,Ilanna Marques Gomes da Rocha,Iasmin Matias de Sousa,Ricardo Andrade Bezerra,Galtieri Otávio Cunha de Medeiros,Ana Paula Trussardi Fayh +7 more
TL;DR: The results showed that muscle mass characteristics explains, at least partially, the variability in handgrip strength and gait speed in a direct relationship with cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accuracy of isolated nutrition indicators in diagnosing malnutrition and their prognostic value to predict death in patients with gastric and colorectal cancer: A prospective study.
Iasmin Matias de Sousa,Flávia Moraes Silva,Ana Lúcia Miranda de Carvalho,Ilanna Marques Gomes da Rocha,Ilanna Marques Gomes da Rocha,Ana Paula Trussardi Fayh +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the accuracy of isolated nutrition indicators in diagnosing malnutrition in patients with gastric and colorectal cancer and their association with mortality, and concluded that the nutrition indicators are not accurate in detecting malnutrition, whereas PG-SGA and low CC could predict mortality.
