Palaeoclimate signals as inferred from stable-isotope composition of ground ice in the Verkhoyansk foreland, Central Yakutia
Steffen Popp,Bernhard Diekmann,Hanno Meyer,Christine Siegert,Igor Syromyatnikov,Hans-Wolfgang Hubberten +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the isotopic composition of ice wedges formed in alluvial and loess-like sediments generally reflects the palaeoclimate of winter conditions, and the transition to the Holocene is characterised by increases of 5'€ and 35'€ in δ18O and δD, respectively.
Ice-rich Permafrost and thermal denudation in the Batagay area (Yana Upland, East Siberia)
Viktor V. Kunitsky,Igor Syromyatnikov,Lutz Schirrmeister,Yu.B. Skachov,Guido Grosse,Sebastian Wetterich,Mikhail N. Grigoriev +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the response of the ice-rich permafrost to recent climate change has been assessed and the composition and structure of the perma-frost has been determined and their role in thermal denudation processes has been examined.
Quaternary deposits of Bol'shoy Lyakhovsky Island
Lutz Schirrmeister,Viktor V. Kunitsky,V. Grosse,Hanno Meyer,Tatiana Kuznetsova,Svetlana Kuzmina,Vladimir Tumskoy,Alexander Yu Derevyagin,I. Akhmadeeva,Igor Syromyatnikov +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Landforms and degradation pattern of the Batagay thaw slump, Northeastern Siberia
Alexander I. Kizyakov,Sebastian Wetterich,Frank Günther,Thomas Opel,Loeka L. Jongejans,J. Courtin,Hanno Meyer,Andrei G. Shepelev,Igor Syromyatnikov,Alexander Fedorov,M.V. Zimin,Guido Grosse +11 more
TL;DR: The Batagay megaslump has been identified in sloping terrain on the Yana Upland in northern Yakutia in this paper , and its formation began in the 1980s, with a current area of > 0.8 km2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of Permafrost Landscapes Degradation on Livelihoods of Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Rural Communities
Vasylii Lytkin,Alexander Suleymanov,Lilia Vinokurova,Stepan Grigorev,Victoriya Golomareva,Svyatoslav Fedorov,Aitalina Kuzmina,Igor Syromyatnikov +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the degradation of permafrost has led to problems with the safety and development of the housing stock, especially deformation of houses and outbuildings, and reduction of areas suitable for construction.
