Ambient mass spectrometry: bringing MS into the “real world”
Rosana M. Alberici,Rosineide C. Simas,Gustavo B. Sanvido,Wanderson Romão,Priscila M. Lalli,Mario Benassi,Ildenize B. S. Cunha,Marcos N. Eberlin +7 more
TL;DR: The basis of ionization and the concepts of the most promising ambient MS techniques known to date are described and compared and illustrated, via typical analytical and bioanalytical applications, how ambient MS is helping to bring MS analysis deeper than ever into the “real world” open atmosphere environment—to wherever MS is needed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phenolic antioxidants identified by ESI-MS from Yerba maté (Ilex paraguariensis) and green tea (Camelia sinensis) extracts.
Deborah Helena Markowicz Bastos,Luciane Arias Saldanha,Rodrigo Ramos Catharino,Alexandra Christine Helena Frankland Sawaya,Ildenize B. S. Cunha,Patrícia de Oliveira Carvalho,Marcos N. Eberlin +6 more
TL;DR: Organic extracts from yerba maté, both green and roasted, and from green tea showed excellent DPPH scavenging activity and ethanolic extracts with lower content of phenolic compounds presented high antioxidant activity, even at very low phenolic concentrations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standard methods for Apis mellifera propolis research
Vassya Bankova,Davide Bertelli,Renata S. Borba,Bruno José Conti,Ildenize B. S. Cunha,Carolina Danert,Marcos N. Eberlin,Soraia Falcão,María Inés Isla,Mar ́ıa Ines Nieva Moreno,Giulia Papotti,Milena Popova,Karina Basso Santiago,Ana Lilia Salas,Alexandra Christine Helena Frankland Sawaya,Nicolas V. Schwab,José Maurício Sforcin,Michael Simone-Finstrom,Marla Spivak,Boryana Trusheva,Miguel Vilas-Boas,Michael Wilson,Catiana Zampini +22 more
TL;DR: An overview of the available methods for studying propolis in different aspects is given in this article, where the authors give an overview of different aspects of propolis, such as propolis production in the bee colony, chemical composition and plant sources, biological activity, and standardization and quality control for industrial application.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors that influence the yield and composition of Brazilian propolis extracts
Ildenize B. S. Cunha,Alexandra Christine Helena Frankland Sawaya,Fabio M. Caetano,M. T. Shimizu,Maria Cristina Marcucci,Flavia T. Drezza,Giovanna S. Povia,Patrícia de Oliveira Carvalho +7 more
TL;DR: The results indicated that the highest yield of propolis extracts obtained by maceration, which also had the greatest number of components, were those using 70% (v/v) ethanol or more as a solvent as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of vegetable oils by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry fingerprinting: classification, quality, adulteration, and aging.
Rodrigo Ramos Catharino,Renato Haddad,Liliane Girotto Cabrini,Ildenize B. S. Cunha,Alexandra Christine Helena Frankland Sawaya,Marcos N. Eberlin +5 more
TL;DR: An improved approach for the direct infusion electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) analysis of vegetable oils is described and fingerprinting analysis was applied to genuine samples of olive, soybean, corn, canola, sunflower, and cottonseed oil.
