Journal ArticleDOI

Ribosomal RNA genes in eukaryotic microorganisms: witnesses of phylogeny?

TL;DR: This work reviewed the organization of the main rRNA transcription unit (rDNA) and the 5S rRNA genes (5S rDNA) in microbial eukaryotes to review the unexpected diversity in the genomic organization of r RNA genes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Saliva is a reliable and accessible source for the detection of SARS-CoV-2.

Luis A. Herrera, +77 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the feasibility of saliva sampling as a non-invasive and safer tool to detect severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and to compare its reproducibility and sensitivity with nasopharyngeal swab samples (NPS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Separable putative polyadenylation and cleavage motifs in Trichomonas vaginalis mRNAs

TL;DR: A working hypothesis is proposed which couples the UAA translation stop codon with the signaling for the 3'end processing of transcripts in this early divergent parasitic protozoa.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differences between coding and non-coding regions in the Trichomonas vaginalis genome: an actin gene as a locus model

TL;DR: The sequence of a cloned genomic fragment of Trichomonas vaginalis containing a complete actin gene was determined and showed a higher G+C content and a lower frequency of repeated sequences in the coding regions when compared with the non-coding regions.
Journal ArticleDOI

A simple model to explain three-base periodicity in coding DNA.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that in coding DNA the 3n distances generated by (i)‐type sequences proportionally outnumber the non‐3n distancesgenerated by (ii)‐ type sequences, this condition would be the basis of three‐base periodicity.
