Journal ArticleDOI

Geminiviruses also encode small proteins with specific functions.

TL;DR: Recently, Gong et al. as discussed by the authors reconsidered their protein identification criteria and identified open reading frames that encode small proteins with specific cellular localizations and virulence functions. But their data warrants exploration of such small proteins in other geminiviruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

The antisense 5' end of the V2 gene confers enhanced resistance against the monopartite begomovirus cotton leaf curl Kokhran virus-Burewala strain.

TL;DR: Results indicate that targeting the 5' end of V2 gene using antisense-RNA has the potential to deliver resistance against begomoviruses and that RNAi-based resistance imparts some degree of resistance to heterologous viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development and evaluation of triple gene transgenic cotton lines expressing three genes (Cry1Ac-Cry2Ab-EPSPS) for lepidopteran insect pests and herbicide tolerance

TL;DR: In this article , triple gene cotton containing EPSPS gene along with two Bt toxin genes Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab using a strategy where all three genes are cloned in the same T-DNA, followed by successful cotton transformation via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation.
Posted ContentDOI

Fully Transient CRISPR/Cas12f system in plants capable of broad-spectrum resistance against Begomovirus

TL;DR: First fully functional transient CRISPR/Cas12f system in plants is reported and it is shown that Cas12f with just one gRNA is enough for substantial broad-spectrum resistance against Gemini viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

First report of Cotton leaf curl Multan virus infecting Millettia pinnata in Pakistan

TL;DR: Ahmed et al. as mentioned in this paper reported the first report of CLCuMuV in Millettia pinnata which may serve as an alternative host of the virus in the off season when cotton is not grown.
