Journal ArticleDOI

Artificial microRNA-mediated resistance against the monopartite begomovirus Cotton leaf curl Burewala virus.

TL;DR: In this article, two amiRNA constructs, based on the sequence of cotton miRNA169a, were produced containing 21 nt of the V2 gene sequence of Cotton leaf curl Burewala virus (CLCuBuV) and transformed into Nicotiana benthamiana.
Journal ArticleDOI

The hypersensitive response induced by the V2 protein of a monopartite begomovirus is countered by the C2 protein

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the V2 protein of monopartite begomoviruses is a pathogenicity determinant and induces an HR that can be suppressed by the C2 protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Successful phytoremediation of crude-oil contaminated soil at an oil exploration and production company by plants-bacterial synergism.

TL;DR: It is shown that the use of endophytes with appropriate plant is an effective strategy for the cleanup of oil-contaminated soil under field conditions and indicates that catabolic gene expression is important for hydrocarbon mineralization.
Journal ArticleDOI

RNAi-mediated mortality of the whitefly through transgenic expression of double-stranded RNA homologous to acetylcholinesterase and ecdysone receptor in tobacco plants

TL;DR: Results indicated that knock down of whitefly genes involved in neuronal transmission and transcriptional activation of developmental genes, has potential as a bio-pesticide to reduce whitefly population size and thereby decrease virus spread.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Merging of Two Dynasties—Identification of an African Cotton Leaf Curl Disease-Associated Begomovirus with Cotton in Pakistan

TL;DR: During survey of symptomatic cotton in Sindh (southern Pakistan) Cotton leaf curl Gezira virus (CLCuGV), the begomovirus associated with CLCuD in Africa, was identified and inoculation of the experimental plant species Nicotiana benthamiana showed that C LCuGV was competent to maintain both CLCUMB and ChLCB.
