Specific accumulation and revised structures of acridone alkaloid glucosides in the tips of transformed roots of Ruta graveolens.

TL;DR: The root tips of Ruta graveolens show strong autofluorescence of acridone alkaloids, which are characteristic secondary metabolites of this plant, and gravacridondiol glucoside was identified as the dominant secondary compound of the root tips and its structure revised by means of spectroscopic methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Indole alkaloids from "hairy roots" of Rauwolfia serpentina

TL;DR: Three minor indole alkaloids have been isolated from "hairy roots" of Rauwolfia serpentina Benth: 3-epi-α-yohimbine (1), 18β-hydroxy-3-epI-α -yohimine (2), and 12hydroxyajmaline (3) as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alkaloid Formation in Hairy Roots and Cell Suspensions of Rauwolfia serpentina Benth

TL;DR: Growth and alkaloid formation of hairy roots of Rauwolfia serpentina and Rau wolfia vomitoria were compared with that of well established cell suspension cultures of Raulia serina and differentiated plants as discussed by the authors.
