Charged particles identification with a CsI(Tl) scintillator

TL;DR: In this paper, a CsI(Tl) scintillator with two light decay components is used to detect and identify p, d, t, 3 He and α particles with a low energy threshold.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temperatures and excitation energies of hot nuclei in the reactions of 32S+Ag and 16O+Ag at 30 MeV/nucleon.

TL;DR: From the energy spectra and multiplicities of particles emitted from a fusion-like source the initial temperatures of the primary composite nuclei are determined and suggest that a plateau temperature near 6.5 MeV is reached above excitation energies of 3 MeV/nucleon.
Journal ArticleDOI

The particle detector array AMPHORA

TL;DR: A 4π-multidetector consisting of 140 CsI(Tl) detectors has been designed and built to be used for detecting and identifying either light charged particles (with a detection threshold of about 0.4 MeV/nucleon) and neutrons or light heavy ions.
Journal ArticleDOI

α-Emission temperatures, coulomb instabilities and nuclear cracking

TL;DR: The α-emission temperatures of medium mass nuclei with masses near 140, determined at excitation energies from 2 to 4.3 MeV/nucleon, suggest a rapid increase in the heat capacity of the composite system consistent with model predictions of the onset of a cracking phase transition or fragmentation.
