Journal ArticleDOI

On the properties of washed straw

TL;DR: In this paper, the removal of troublesome elements in biomass to reduce slagging and fouling in furnaces and other thermal conversion systems was tested by washing (leaching) the fuel with water.
Book ChapterDOI

Combustion Characteristics of Leached Biomass

TL;DR: In this paper, simple leaching of straw, grass, switchgrass and other types of biomass with water is shown to result in substantial improvements to the combustion behavior of these biomass fuels.

Removal of inorganic elements to improve biomass combustion properties

TL;DR: In this article, the removal of inorganic compounds prior to firing by relatively simple techniques and discusses potential applications in the biomass power industry was investigated. But, the results of the experiments were limited to rice and wheat straw, and concentrations of major inorganic species determined in the solid and liquid phases.
