The role of bone density in structuring prehistoric salmon bone assemblages

TL;DR: Bone densities of representative cranial and postcranial elements from 10 chinook salmon ( Oncorhynchus tshawytscha ) were measured using X-ray absorptiometry.

A paleoscience approach to estimating the effects of climatic warming on salmonid fisheries of the Columbia River Basin

TL;DR: The authors used geomorphic, paleobotanical, and paleomalacological data to reconstruct stream conditions during the last 8000 years and estimated the effect on salmon of conditions extant approximately 6000 to 7000 radiocarbon years before present (B.P.).
Journal ArticleDOI

Response of the Columbia River fluvial system to Holocene climatic change

TL;DR: In this paper, a well-dated sequence of floodplain development in the Wells Reservoir region was compared with the paleoenvironmental history of the Columbia River Basin, and it was shown that aggradation episodes, occurring approximately 9000-8000, 7000-6500, 4400-3900, and 2400-1800 yr B.P., coincided with climatic transitions that share certain characteristics.
ReportDOI

Effects of climate change on Pacific Northwest water-related resources: Summary of preliminary findings

TL;DR: The Pacific Northwest case study as mentioned in this paper is a multi-agency analysis of atmospheric/climatic change impacts on the Pacific Northwest (which includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and portions of the Columbia River Basin in Western Montana).
