Thermodynamics of the Emery Model

Abstract: Some calculations on the Emery model are presented. In the strong coupling regime a previous variational solution of the three band model is extended to include nearest neighbour repulsion and spiral magnetic order. In the weak coupling regime frequency and momentum dependent real and imaginary part of the self energy and the density of states are calculated in a self consistent Green’s function expansion. The most important result in the DOS is some onset of splitting of the antibonding band into subbands with increasing correlation. In the neutral case the chemical potential is in a region of reduced DOS. Upon doping it moves into the peak of the upper subband.
