27AI‐NMR Spectroscopy: A Probe for Three‐, Four‐, Five‐, and Sixfold Coordinated Al Atoms in Organoaluminum Compounds

A polymetallic assembly containing mutually coordinated highly reactive UO2+ groups was isolated in the presence of dibenzoylmethanate. NMR studies showed unambiguously the presence of the cation−cation complex in pyridine solution while more polar solvents lead to the disruption of the UO2+/UO2+ interaction and increased stability.

Spectroscopic investigations of complexes between acetonitrile and aluminum trichloride. 2. Study of AlCl3 in acetonitrile mixtures of tetramethylammonium chloride, water, or nitromethane

The AIBr3-CH3CN system has been investigated by infrared, Raman, and Br and A1 N M R spectroscopy in the range of the molar ratio [CH3CN]/[A1Br3] of 4.7-64. The system consists exclusively of ionic complexes that share the only anion AlBrp. Three octahedral cations have been characterized as Al(CH3CN)2+, AlBr(CH3CN)s2+, and AlBr2(CH3CN)4+, the last being likely to adopt the cis geometry because of pairwise interactions. The identification of the cations has been performed from their individual ionic charge. The method of evaluation is based on the comparison, for each concentration, of the experimental average ionic charge of the cations with the value that can be calculated from a quantitative curve analysis of the spectra.
