Estimation of Kinetic Parameters of Heterotrophic Biomass under Aerobic Conditions and Characterization of Wastewater for Activated Sludge Modelling

TL;DR: Measurements showed that the maximum specific growth rate µ max of heterotrophic biomass depends on temperature, reactor configuration and SRT.
Journal ArticleDOI

Temperature effects on wastewater characterization and the release of soluble inert organic material

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the amount of inert, non-biodegradable organic material increases with decreasing process temperature, and it was concluded that the inert material must originally be associated with a chemically reduced, slowly biodegradability, lipophilic fraction of the activated sludge, which contains little nitrogen.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bulking in Activated Sludge Systems: A Qualitative Simulation Model for Sphaerotilus natans, Type 021N and Type 0961

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that not only the well known facts such as reactor configuration, readily biodegradable substrate and temperature exert a strong influence on bulking behaviour, but also the influent slowly biodegrades substrate as well as inoculating biomass.
