TL;DR: Patients with APs plus SLE and PAPS have similar clinical profiles, although heart valve disease, hemolytic anemia, low C4 levels, and neutropenia seem to be more common in patients with APSplus SLE.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ricard Cervera,Munther A. Khamashta,Josep Font,Pedro A. Reyes,J. L. Vianna,Alfons López-Soto,Mary-Carmen Amigo,Ronald A. Asherson,M. Azqueta,Carles Paré,Jesús Vargas,Angel Romero,Miguel Ingelmo,Graham R. V. Hughes +13 more
TL;DR: Valvular heart disease, particularly affecting the mitral and aortic valves, is common in patients with the 'primary' antiphospholipid syndrome, especially in those over 40 years old.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibodies to endothelial cells in systemic lupus erythematosus: a potential marker for nephritis and vasculitis.
David D'Cruz,F. A. Houssiau,G Ramírez,Elaine Baguley,J. Mccutcheon,J. L. Vianna,H.-J. Haga,G. T. Swana,Munther A. Khamashta,Jon Taylor,D. R. Davies,G. R. V. Hughes +11 more
TL;DR: Using an ELISA, anti‐endothelial cell antibodies (AECA) have been found in sera obtained at the time of renal biopsy in 46 out of 57 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and nephritis, and the highest AECA values were seen in patients with both nephitis and vasculitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lack of association between anticardiolipin antibodies and migraine in systemic lupus erythematosus
Montalbán J,Ricard Cervera,Josep Font,J. Ordi,J. L. Vianna,H. J. Haga,Mar Tintoré,Munther A. Khamashta,Graham R. V. Hughes +8 more
TL;DR: The study highlights the frequency of headache in SLE, but does not support an association between the presence of aCL and migraine in this disease.
Journal Article
A prospective evaluation of antithyroid antibody prevalence in 100 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus.
TL;DR: Levels of antithyroid antibodies correlated with clinical or subclinical (marked by elevations of TSH) thyroid disease and a higher frequency of clinical thyroid disease was seen in patients with SLE with thyroid antibodies.
