Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of carrier diffusion effects on window thickness of semiconductor detectors

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that if the surface is assumed to be a perfect sink, carrier diffusion (against the drift field) to the surface leads to x_w ≈ kT/qE where E is the field at the surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Charge transport through α-monoclinic selenium

TL;DR: In this article, the existence of surface barriers on α-monoclinic selenium crystals has been demonstrated and the hole mobility was found to be limited by traps 0·23 ± 0.01 eV above the valence levels, while the electron mobility is an intrinsic mobility limited by scattering.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optical absorption of selenium in the α-monoclinic crystal and some solvents

TL;DR: The optical absorption of α-monoclinic selenium has been measured over the range in wavelength 1.15−0.2775 µm as mentioned in this paper, and the data showed a well defined absorption edge at 2.25 eV with further structure appearing as changes in dα/dE at 3.85 eV and 3.75 eV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Origin of field‐dependent collection efficiency in contact‐limited photoconductors

TL;DR: It has been established that diffusion of photogenerated carriers into the electrode can be an important limitation of the collection efficiency of surface-barrier-limited photoconductors as discussed by the authors.
