Recovery and packaging of tritium from Canadian heavy water reactors
TL;DR: The Tritium Extraction Plant being built at Chalk River Nuclear Laboratories (CRNL) will be the first industrial scale demonstration of the Liquid Phase Catalytic Exchange (LPCE) process for transf...
Journal ArticleDOI
CRITIC-I irradiation of Li2O☆
TL;DR: In this paper, preliminary results from the CRITIC-I, vented capsule irradiation of Li2O are presented, showing that the influence of both temperature (450 −850°C) and sweep gas composition (He, He-0.01% H2, He −0.1% H 2 ) on tritium release rate were observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bubble formation in irradiated Li2O
TL;DR: In this article, Li(n, α)3H reaction was found to cause bubble formation in the ceramic which is thought to be due to helium formed from the in-reactor 6Li n, α 3H reaction, and the residual tritium content ranged from 2.4 to 16 mCi/g.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Critic-I Irradiation of Li2O - Tritium Release and Measurementa
TL;DR: The results from the CRITIC-I, vented capsule irradiation of Li2O are presented in this paper, where a total lithium burnup of 0.74% has been achieved and 1500 curiesb of tritium have been collected over the first 15 months.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance of a Li2TiO3 pebble-bed in the CRITIC-III irradiation
TL;DR: In this article, Li2TiO3 pebbles were irradiated for 334 full power days (FPD) to a burnup of 0.9% 6Li in the CRITIC-III experiment in AECL's NRU reactor.
