EIT: Extreme-UltraViolet Imaging Telescope for the SOHO Mission
Jean-Pierre Delaboudiniere,G. E. Artzner,Jacqueline Brunaud,A. H. Gabriel,Jean-François Hochedez,F. Millier,X. Y. Song,B. Au,Kenneth P. Dere,Russell A. Howard,R. W. Kreplin,D. J. Michels,John D. Moses,Jean-Marc Defise,Claude Jamar,Pierre Rochus,J. P. Chauvineau,J. P. Marioge,R. C. Catura,James R. Lemen,L. Shing,Robert A. Stern,Joseph B. Gurman,Werner M. Neupert,A. Maucherat,Frédéric Clette,P. Cugnon,E. L. Van Dessel +27 more
TL;DR: The Extreme-ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) as discussed by the authors provides wide-field images of the corona and transition region on the solar disc and up to 1.5 R⊙ above the solar limb.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eit observations of the extreme ultraviolet sun
D. Moses,Frédéric Clette,Jean-Pierre Delaboudiniere,G. E. Artzner,M. Bougnet,Jacqueline Brunaud,Charles Carabetian,A. H. Gabriel,Jean-François Hochedez,F. Millier,X. Y. Song,B. Au,Kenneth P. Gurman,Werner M. Neupert,Jeffrey S. Newmark,Barbara J. Thompson,A. Maucherat,F. Portier-Fozzani,David Berghmans,P. Cugnon,E. L. Van Dessel,J. R. Gabryl +34 more
TL;DR: The Extreme Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) on board the SOHO spacecraft has been operational since 2 January 1996 and has been used to observe the Sun over a 45 × 45 arc min field of view in four emission line groups: Fe IX, X, Fe XIIi, Fe xv, and He II.
Journal ArticleDOI
EIT and LASCO Observations of the Initiation of a Coronal Mass Ejection
Kenneth P. Dere,Guenter E. Brueckner,Russell A. Howard,M. J. Koomen,Clarence M. Korendyke,R. W. Kreplin,D. J. Michels,John D. Moses,N. E. Moulton,Dennis G. Socker,O. C. St. Cyr,Jean-Pierre Delaboudiniere,G. E. Artzner,Jacqueline Brunaud,Alan H. Gabriel,Jean-François Hochedez,F. Millier,Xueyan Song,J. P. Chauvineau,J. P. Marioge,Jean-Marc Defise,Claude Jamar,Pierre Rochus,R. C. Catura,J. R . Lemen,Joseph B. Gurman,W. M. Neupert,F. Clette,P. Cugnon,E. L. Van Dessel,Philippe Lamy,A. Llebaria,Rainer Schwenn,G. M. Simnett +33 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the first observations of the initiation of a coronal mass ejection (CME) seen on the disk of the Sun were presented, where the CME was initially associated with slow motions of prominence material and a small brightening at one end of the prominence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Large-field high-resolution x-ray microscope for studying laser plasmas
R. Sauneuf,Jean-Michel Dalmasso,T. Jalinaud,Jean-Pierre Le Breton,D. Schirmann,J. P. Marioge,Françoise Bridou,Gérard Tissot,Jean-Yves Clotaire +8 more
TL;DR: Kirkpatrick and Baez as discussed by the authors developed an x-ray microscope (energy range about 100 eV-10 keV) composed of two concave spherical mirrors working at grazing incidence that presented a 3-5 μm resolution within a field having a radius about 100 μm; outside that field, its resolution lowers rapidly when the object point recedes from the center.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Description and performance of mirrors and multilayers for the extreme ultraviolet imaging telescope of the SOHO mission
J. P. Chauvineau,Jean-Yves Clotaire,Gilles Colas,O. Lam,Jean-Claude Manneville,J. P. Marioge,Michel Mullot,Alain Raynal,Gerard Tissot,Laurence Valiergue,Jean-Pierre Delaboudiniere +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the fabrication and test of the primary and secondary mirrors of a Ritchey-Chretien telescope designed to provide the SOHO mission with a global view of the solar corona are discussed in details.
