Utilization of grass silage by growing cattle: effect of a supplement containing ruminally protected amino acids.

TL;DR: It is indicated that feeding RPAA can improve the performance of growing steers fed grass silages of varying qualities and Plasma levels of methionine, lysine, arginine, and glutamic acid were higher and of histidine were lower when RPAA were fed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance of beef steers fed grass silage with or without supplements of soybean meal, fish meal and barley.

TL;DR: Forty crossbred beef steers were used in a 112-d experiment to study the effect of fish meal, soybean meal, barley, growth, fish meal and B plus FM supplementation of grass silage on the performance of growing cattle.
Journal ArticleDOI

Digestibility and voluntary intake of forages fed as hay or wilted silage to beef steers

TL;DR: Thirty-six steers were used to study the nutritive value of alfalfa, timothy and a mixture of red clover-timothy-Kentucky bluegrass, and total digestible nutrient values were similar for all forages.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of supplementation with fish meal or fish protein hydrolysate on growth, nutrient digestibility and rumen fermentation of growing cattle fed grass silage

TL;DR: Two experiments were conducted to determine the effects of supplementing grass silage with isonitrogenous amounts of fish meal or fish protein hydrolysate on growth, diet digestibility and rumen fermentation in beef cattle.
