Casson fluid flow over an unsteady stretching surface

The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transfer characteristics for the boundary layer flow over a permeable stretching sheet are considered. Velocity and thermal slip conditions are taken into account. Problem formulation is developed in the presence of thermal radiation. Governing non-linear problem is solved by a homotopy analysis method. Convergence of the derived solutions is studied. Numerical values of skin-friction coefficient and local Nusselt number are tabulated. Effects of pertinent parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles are discussed. MHD flow and heat transfer over permeable stretching sheet with slip conditions

The unsteady two-dimensional flow of a MHD non-Newtonian Maxwell fluid over a stretching surface with a prescribed surface temperature in the presence of a heat source/sink is investigated. Similarity solutions for the governing equations are obtained. The transformed boundary layer equations are then solved numerically by using the shooting method. Fluid velocity initially decreases with the increasing unsteadiness parameter, and temperature decreases significantly due to unsteadiness. It is also found that the fluid velocity decreases with the increasing magnetic parameter. Increasing the Maxwell parameter values has the effect of suppressing the velocity field and increasing the temperature.

This chapter presents the heat or mass transfer characteristics for boundary layer flows past a stretching sheet. Importance and its applications in different fields of engineering and technology are highlighted. We discuss the flow heat or mass transfer characteristics for different types of stretching such as linear, power-law, exponential, unsteady, and curved stretching etc. Variable thermophysical properties are considered. The similarity transformation is used to obtain the self-similar equations that are then solved numerically. Applying a special form of Lie group transformation, similarity solutions are obtained for particular flow and heat transfer problems. Non-Newtonian fluid flow has been considered in this chapter. Flow features near a stagnation point have been also discussed.
