29 Si MAS-NMR spectroscopy of mica-type silicates: Observed and predicted distribution of tetrahedral Al-Si

TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison between the observed and Monte-Carlo simulated spectra was used to test different Al-Si distribution schemes in the tetrahedral sheet, and it was shown that for all samples (8 compositions in the range 0.1≤x≤0.5) the AlSi distribution complies with the principle of homogeneous dispersion of charges (HDC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Tetrahedral cation ordering in layer silicates by 29Si NMR spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that Si, Al distribution is mainly controlled by the electrostatic requirement of homogeneous dispersion of Al, confirming earlier conclusions derived from the analysis of natural samples of micas with Si/Al ratios near to 3.
Journal ArticleDOI

Si, Al distribution in micas; analysis by high-resolution 29 Si NMR spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the analysis of 29Si MAR-NMR spectra of micas and vermiculite was carried out and the two main factors that govern the Si, Al distribution in the tetrahedral sheet of these minerals are: (i) Loewenstein's rule (avoidance of Al-O-Al linkages), and (ii) local balance of charges.
Journal ArticleDOI

Arrangement and mobility of water in vermiculite hydrates followed by 1H NMR spectroscopy.

TL;DR: In one and two-layer hydrates of Na-vermiculite, the anisotropic diffusion of water takes place at room temperature, preserving the orientation of water molecules relative to the silicate layers, and two different orientations for water molecules have been found.
