Structural disorder and phase transformation in graphite produced by ball milling

TL;DR: Nanocrystalline graphite with a crystallite size of about 2 nm is formed after 8 h of ball milling as mentioned in this paper. But this graphite is relatively stable against heating when compared with some nanocrystine metals.

Transformation of amorphous to nanocrystalline alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, an amorphous Fe-Mo-Si-B alloy was examined by DSC, XRD and TEM techniques, and it was shown that in the temperature interval of 833-893 K, nanocrystalline alloys are obtained, which may be ascribed to the simultaneous nucleation of four types of phases that promote the formation of an homogeneous structure, and the co-existence of the different phases that contribute to resisting grain growth and to maintaining the nanostructured state.
