Journal ArticleDOI

Two-dimensional motion of the retinal image during monocular fixation.

TL;DR: A new modification of the contact lens technique was employed to record simultaneously vertical and horizontal components of eye movements, which were trigonometrically transformed to yield information about retinal image motion parallel to eight retinal meridia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Determiners of the Drift of the Eye during Monocular Fixation

TL;DR: The nature of the drift of the eye during monocular fixation was investigated by recording vertical and horizontal components of eye movements under a variety of viewing conditions, and changing the position of the viewing eye in the head produced systematic shifts in the preferred direction of drift.
Journal ArticleDOI

Meridional variations in visual acuity and eye movements during fixation.

TL;DR: It was concluded that for most individuals, the directional nonuniformity of eye movements during fixation is not sufficient to play any role whatever in the meridional variations in the visibility of visual detail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brightness and visual acuity with intermittent illumination.

TL;DR: By taking into account the exact duration of the test exposures, a more general form of Talbot’s law was derived, which fits all the brightness matches obtained and turns out to be less efficient than steady illumination so far as visual acuity is concerned for brief exposures.
