TL;DR: In this article, an analysis of the corps des inspecteurs de securite de la Ville de Paris is presented, where the authors propose a model of the identity of the acteurs, the nature of leurs tâches and the facon les accomplissent.

TL;DR: The authors analyzes the changing public/private as well as central/local relationships for the provi-sion of public security in public places in France and describes the emergence and development of a now frequent public-private mix in policing.
Abstract: This paper analyzes the changing public/private as well as central/local relationships for the provi-sion of public security in public places in France. It describes the emergence and development of a now frequent public-private mix in policing, based on the hot issue of regulating social behaviours in public places. The significance of the French model in terms of the nature of privatization and pluralization is then discussed and compared to international trends. The rise of a local level public-private mix, while not unique in Europe, appears as a major shift in a French environment traditionally characterized by the structural centralization of its public forces.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyse the effects of the uses of these indicators by taking the example of the French National Police and analyze the impact on police work and interactions within the police organisation as well externally.
Abstract: At all levels of police management, the use of dashboards and performance indicators is usual, both internally to manage personal and vis-a-vis external partners. This text aims to question the effects of the uses of these indicators by taking the example of the French National Police. After having briefly described the modes of operation of police organizations affected by the deployment of these indicators, we analyse the impact on police work and interactions within the police organisation as well externally. The piece especially focuses on the rationalisation process at work, the perverse effects associated to these new policy instruments and the internal controversies associated to them.
