Hydration of r.f. magnetron sputtered MgO thin films for a protective layer in AC plasma display panel

TL;DR: In this article, MgO thin films were hydrated by exposing in the humid ambience with 80% relative humidity at room temperature, and the entire hydrated region was observed to be approximately 2 nm thick.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydration behavior of MgO single crystals and thin films

TL;DR: In this paper, MgO single crystals and thin films were intentionally hydrated to determine the critical factors affecting the hydration behavior, and the degree of hydration was affected by the crystallographic orientation in the initial stages.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of additives on properties of MgO thin films by electrostatic spray deposition

TL;DR: In this article, MgO thin films were deposited on SiO2/Si(100) and corning 7059 glass substrates using bis(2,2,6, 6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionato) magnesium(II) as a precursor dissolved in a solvent by electrostatic spray deposition (ESD).
Journal ArticleDOI

The protection of MgO film against hydration by using Al2O3 capping layer deposited by magnetron sputtering method

TL;DR: Al 2 O 3 capping layer was deposited by DC reactive sputtering method on MgO protective layer, which varied from 1 to 15 nm as discussed by the authors, and it was found that Mg atoms diffused into Al 2 O3 layer and reacted with moisture at surface, forming Mg(OH) 2 phase during hydration reaction.
