Motion and heat transfer in the Blasius flow containing a pulsating component

TL;DR: In this paper, a wide range of the two key external parameters in the free stream, i.e., the applitude of pulsation, A, and the frequency parameter α [ ωx ∗ /U e ], is dealt with in the present numerical computations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Discrete Vortex Simulation of Pulsating Flow Behind a Normal Plate

TL;DR: In this paper, a variable position nascent vortex technique is applied to pulsating approach flows and three flow modes are identified based on the numerical results, which are qualitatively consistent with the existing flow-visualization studies for a cylinder.
Journal ArticleDOI

Augmentation of convective heat transfer by a torsionally-oscillating endwall disk

TL;DR: In this paper, an investigation is made of fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics in a vertically-mounted circular cylinder with a top endwall disk, which oscillates about the central axis with rotation rate Ω = eλ cos (λt), and the temperature of the top disk is higher than that of the bottom disk, producing a stable stratification of Brunt-Vaisala frequency.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transient sidewall shear layers of compressible fluid in a rapidly rotating circular-cylinder

TL;DR: In this paper, a leading-order linearized formulation for transient Stewartson layers is obtained for general-type time-dependent mechanical perturbations at the cylindrical sidewall.
