TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed to reduce the number of delay stages which are contained in a false- indicating signal detector/reducing device by using a BPF that has a center in a spectrum region of the minimum energy in a video signal.
Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the number of delay stages which are contained in a false- indicating signal detector/reducing device by using a BPF that has a center in a spectrum region of the minimum energy in a video signal. CONSTITUTION: A digital video sample from a signal source 10 is sent to a BPF 12. A response center frequency of the BPF 12 is selected in a spectrum region where the energy of a composite video signal becomes the smallest. An output of the BPF 12 is supplied to a comb-line filter that includes elements 18, 20 and 26 through a rectifying device 14, which includes this complementing circuit and a multiplexer and an LPF 16, and given delay equivalent to one line. Each sample of the 2-H delay and non-delay is weighted with (-1/2) and added to a signal of 1-H delay. An addition output is sent to a core ring circuit 28, and its output is sent to a threshold detector 36 through a device 34 that has a sigmoid transfer function. The detector 36 generates a signal, which represents a 1st state that is larger than a set value to an input sample and a 2nd state, that is smaller than the value set.
