Journal ArticleDOI
Polymorphisms in the TNF-α and IL10 Gene Promoters and Risk of Arsenic-Induced Skin Lesions and Other Nondermatological Health Effects
Nilanjana Banerjee,Sujay Nandy,James K. Kearns,James K. Kearns,Apurba K. Bandyopadhyay,Jayanta Das,Papiya Majumder,Santanu Basu,Saptarshi Banerjee,Tanmoy Jyoti Sau,J. Christopher States,Ashok K. Giri +11 more
TL;DR: The polymorphisms studied impart significant risk toward development of arsenic-induced dermatological and nondermatological health effects in the chronically exposed population of West Bengal, India.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diamond and diamond-like carbon from a preceramic polymer
Patricia A. Bianconi,Scott J. Joray,Brian L. Aldrich,Jitapa Sumranjit,Daniel J. Duffy,David P. Long,Jason L. Lazorcik,Louis Raboin,James K. Kearns,Stephenie L. Smulligan,Jonathan M. Babyak +10 more
TL;DR: The synthesis of poly(hydridocarbyne), one of a class of carbon-based random network polymers and a structural isomer of polyacetlyene, is reported, revealing unusual properties on the polymer, including facile thermal decomposition to form diamond or diamond-like carbon high-quality films at atmospheric pressure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improving the accuracy and precision of an arsenic field test kit: increased reaction time and digital image analysis
James K. Kearns,Julian F. Tyson +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, two procedures to improve the performance of the Hach EZ test kit for quantifying inorganic arsenic concentrations in drinking water have been investigated, and the precision as a function of concentration was quantified.
