A secure data parser is provided that may be integrated into any suitable system for securely storing and communicating data. The secure data parser parses data and then splits the data into multiple portions that are stored or communicated distinctly. Encryption of the original data, the portions of data, or both may be employed for additional security. The secure data parser may be used to protect data in motion by splitting original data into portions of data, that may be communicated using multiple communications paths.

A distributed antenna and backhaul system provide network connectivity for a small cell deployment. Rather than building new structures, and installing additional fiber and cable, embodiments described herein disclose using high-bandwidth, millimeter-wave communications and existing power line infrastructure. Above ground backhaul connections via power lines and line-of-sight millimeter-wave band signals as well as underground backhaul connections via buried electrical conduits can provide connectivity to the distributed base stations. An overhead millimeter-wave system can also be used to provide backhaul connectivity. Modules can be placed onto existing infrastructure, such as streetlights and utility poles, and the modules can contain base stations and antennas to transmit the millimeter-waves to and from other modules.

A distributed antenna system is provided that frequency shifts the output of one or more microcells to a 60 GHz or higher frequency range for transmission to a set of distributed antennas. The cellular band outputs of these microcell base station devices are used to modulate a 60 GHz (or higher) carrier wave, yielding a group of subcarriers on the 60 GHz carrier wave. This group will then be transmitted in the air via analog microwave RF unit, after which it can be repeated or radiated to the surrounding area. The repeaters amplify the signal and resend it on the air again toward the next repeater. In places where a microcell is required, the 60 GHz signal is shifted in frequency back to its original frequency (e.g., the 1.9 GHz cellular band) and radiated locally to nearby mobile devices.

A method and apparatus for compressing data is described. A compressor builds a dictionary associated with the characters in the input string. A table in the dictionary is generated by looking backward from a current character being encoded in the input string to determine the last time the most recent one or more characters have occurred. The compressor determines whether the following characters at a point of encoding matches the next character being encoded.

An apparatus and a method for managing class properties in a computer program is described. Classes are declared. Each class is associated with a corresponding property with at least one class inheriting one or more property corresponding to one or more other classes. A table generator forms a table of property offsets associated with each class. The table is copied forward with each inheritance declaration. A reference to a property of a class is resolved by retrieving the table associated with a current instance's class and resolving from the table associated with the class corresponding to an object from which the property is referenced.

A secret polynomial is embedded in a larger polynomial. In one embodiment, the secret is represented as a secret polynomial of degree d over GF(q), q being a prime or a power of a prime. The secret polynomial is added to a product of two random pairwise coprime polynomials, using arithmetic defined on GF(q), to produce an extension polynomial of degree m that is greater than d. From the extension polynomial, n shares of the secret is generated for distribution to a plurality of cooperating entities for secret sharing.

An apparatus and a method for versioning a file of a file system is described. A versioning module stores multiple versions of the file. The file is opened for write access. The versioning module identifies an file mapping structure of a block associated with the file, copies the content of the file mapping structure of the file to a new file mapping structure of the file, and allocates a new block to the file as represented by the file mapping structure.
