A secure data parser is provided that may be integrated into any suitable system for securely storing and communicating data. The secure data parser parses data and then splits the data into multiple portions that are stored or communicated distinctly. Encryption of the original data, the portions of data, or both may be employed for additional security. The secure data parser may be used to protect data in motion by splitting original data into portions of data, that may be communicated using multiple communications paths.

A distributed antenna and backhaul system provide network connectivity for a small cell deployment. Rather than building new structures, and installing additional fiber and cable, embodiments described herein disclose using high-bandwidth, millimeter-wave communications and existing power line infrastructure. Above ground backhaul connections via power lines and line-of-sight millimeter-wave band signals as well as underground backhaul connections via buried electrical conduits can provide connectivity to the distributed base stations. An overhead millimeter-wave system can also be used to provide backhaul connectivity. Modules can be placed onto existing infrastructure, such as streetlights and utility poles, and the modules can contain base stations and antennas to transmit the millimeter-waves to and from other modules.

A distributed antenna system is provided that frequency shifts the output of one or more microcells to a 60 GHz or higher frequency range for transmission to a set of distributed antennas. The cellular band outputs of these microcell base station devices are used to modulate a 60 GHz (or higher) carrier wave, yielding a group of subcarriers on the 60 GHz carrier wave. This group will then be transmitted in the air via analog microwave RF unit, after which it can be repeated or radiated to the surrounding area. The repeaters amplify the signal and resend it on the air again toward the next repeater. In places where a microcell is required, the 60 GHz signal is shifted in frequency back to its original frequency (e.g., the 1.9 GHz cellular band) and radiated locally to nearby mobile devices.

A method and apparatus for facilitating distributed hosting of web application styles. In one embodiment, a method may include storing original style sheets at a first location, where the original style sheets pertain to a user interface (UI) provided by the service provider, and allowing a third party to customize a subset of the original style sheets and to store the customized style sheets at a second location. The method may further include causing the customized style sheets to be combined with the original style sheets when the user interface is presented to a user associated with the third party.

The pseudo-random number generation mixes the output of two or more pseudo-random number generators to create a new pseudo-random number or sequence. The process operates on pseudo-random numbers with a bit size k, multiplies the numbers and then performs modulo 2 k +1 on the result of the multiplication. This process can be performed quickly and with minimal computing resources, while improving the quality of the randomness of the output.

Non-linear mixing of pseudo-random number generator output

A method and apparatus for client authentication using a pseudo-random number generation system. The pseudo-random number generation utilizes a secret key as well as state information as input into the hash function to generate a pseudo-random number. The state information that is part of the input can be any number of prior generated pseudo-random numbers. The authentication allows for synchronization of the client and server by exchanging state information. The authentication is not dependent on any absolute time and consequently the client and servers are not required to maintain a reliable shared time base.

Keyed pseudo-random number generator

Techniques for implementing security within a browser of a data processing system are described herein. According to one embodiment, first data representing a user interaction with a Web page presented by a browser application is encrypted at an application level by a cipher module communicatively coupled to the browser application running at a local client. A JavaScript module embedded within the browser application is configured to transmit the encrypted first data over a network to a remote server for updating the Web page. In response to second data received from the remote server, the cipher module is configured to decrypt the second data at the application level and the decrypted second data is then rendered by the browser application to update the Web page without having to reload the entire Web page. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Security implementation within a browser

Some embodiments of a method and an apparatus to generate pseudo random bits for a cryptographic key have been presented. In one embodiment, a set of Blum-Blum-Shub (BBS) pseudo random number generators is executed substantially in parallel. Each of the BBS pseudo random number generators may generate a series of pseudo random bits. A subset of pseudo random bits is extracted from each of the series of pseudo random bits from each of the plurality of BBS pseudo random number generators. Subsets of the series of pseudo random bits from the BBS pseudo random number generators are combined to generate a cryptographic key.
