Method of separating particles from a filter
Jan Knight,Rob Knight +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, particles that move at low Reynolds numbers are separated from a filter material on which they are adsorbed by subjecting the filter material, in a liquid medium, to agitation of sufficient magnitude to create turbulence and shear forces acting on the filter, such that the particles become desorbed from the filter and become suspended in the liquid medium.

Jan Knight,Rob Knight +1 more
TL;DR: Scanning electron microscopical studies of acrylic corrosion casts of the blood vascular system of the gills of Pholas dactylus and of critical-point dried preparations of whole gills, supplemented by histological preparations and observations on whole animals, show that theBlood vascular system has two interconnecting pathways, one frontal and one abfrontal, both of which arise and terminate in the primary vessels of thegills.
