A comparison between Fuzzy AHP and Fuzzy TOPSIS methods to supplier selection

Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on the concept of Galois connexions. The researches in algebraic linguistics have been performed in the frame of a particular Galois connexion, in which the objects are the words of a vocabulary, V, and the set of the properties is the set of the contexts that accept these words. Vocabulary V is, however, formed by a finite of words. The chapter highlights that if A is a generating kernel for the closed set φ ( X ), then the set formed by taking one element of every family contained in A is also a generator for φ ( X ). Such a generator is called the minimal generator of the set φ( X ) with respect to the kernel A . The chapter also discusses the properties of the operators G , ω , and φ .

On Galois Connexions

Supply chain presents a very complex field involving a large number of participants. The aim of the complete supply chain is finding an optimum from the aspect of all participants, which is a rather complex task. In order to ensure optimum satisfaction for all participants, it is necessary that the beginning phase consists of correct evaluations and supplier selection. In this study, the supplier selection was performed in the construction company, on the basis of a new approach in the field of multi-criteria model. Weight coefficients were obtained by DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method, based on the rough numbers. Evaluation and the supplier selection were made on the basis of a new Rough EDAS (Evaluation based on Distance from Average Solution) method, which presents one of the latest methods in this field. In order to determine the stability of the model and the applicability of the proposed Rough EDAS method, an extension of the COPRAS and MULTIMOORA method by rough numbers was also performed in this study, and the findings of the comparative analysis were presented. Besides the new approaches based on the extension by rough numbers, the results are also compared with the Rough MABAC (MultiAttributive Border Approximation area Comparison) and Rough MAIRCA (MultiAttributive Ideal-Real Comparative Analysis). In addition, in the sensitivity analysis, 18 different scenarios were formed, the ones in which criteria change their original values. At the end of the sensitivity analysis, SCC (Spearman Correlation Coefficient) of the obtained ranges was carried out, confirming the applicability of the proposed approaches.

Novel Integrated Multi-Criteria Model for Supplier Selection: Case Study Construction Company

In recent years, FCA has received significant attention from research communities of various fields. Further, the theory of FCA is being extended into different frontiers and augmented with other knowledge representation frameworks. In this backdrop, this paper aims to provide an understanding of the necessary mathematical background for each extension of FCA like FCA with granular computing, a fuzzy setting, interval-valued, possibility theory, triadic, factor concepts and handling incomplete data. Subsequently, the paper illustrates emerging trends for each extension with applications. To this end, we summarize more than 350 recent published after 2011 research papers indexed in Google Scholar, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, Scopus, SpringerLink, and a few authoritative fundamental papers.

On equivalence of conceptual scaling and generalized one-sided concept lattices

The theory of concept lattices represents a well established and widely used conceptual data-mining method. Considering additional information represented by a graph structure on a set of objects, we propose a reduction of concepts. Using graph-theoretical point of view on FCA together with simple probabilistic arguments we derive the mean value of the cardinality of the reduced hierarchical structure.

On concept reduction based on some graph properties

We describe a representation of the fuzzy concept lattices, defined via antitone Galois connections, within the framework of classical Formal Concept Analysis. As it is shown, all needed information is explicitly contained in a given formal fuzzy context and the proposed representation can be obtained without a creation of the corresponding fuzzy concept lattice.

Representation of Fuzzy Concept Lattices in the Framework of Classical FCA

This paper describes a case-study of supplier selection based on multi-criterial Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. It is demonstrated that using adequate mathematical method can bring us “unprejudiced” conclusion, even if the alternatives (supplier companies) are very similar in given selection-criteria. The result is the best possible supplier company from the viewpoint of chosen criteria and the price of the product.

Supplier selection based on multi-criterial AHP method

In this paper we describe incremental algorithm for generalized one-sided concept lattices based on the Galois connections within Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) framework, which allows to analyse object-attribute models with different structures for truth values of attributes. Therefore, this method provide interesting opportunity for researcher or data analyzer to work with any type of attributes without the need for specific unified preprocessing. The result is that such algorithm can be very useful for any object-attribute models with non-homogenous attributes types, what is quite typical in data mining or online analytical tools. Moreover, it allows to create same FCA-based output in form of concept lattice as in any other case with very precise definition of attribute values and their interpretation. Description of algorithm is extended with practical details regarding its implementation and illustrative example based on the real data from analysis of the secondary school learning process.
