Effect of Behavioral Interventions on Inappropriate Antibiotic Prescribing Among Primary Care Practices: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Daniella Meeker,Daniella Meeker,Jeffrey A. Linder,Jeffrey A. Linder,Craig R. Fox,Mark W. Friedberg,Mark W. Friedberg,Mark W. Friedberg,Stephen D. Persell,Noah J. Goldstein,Tara K. Knight,Joel W. Jw Hay,Jason N. Doctor +12 more
TL;DR: Among primary care practices, the use of accountable justification and peer comparison as behavioral interventions resulted in lower rates of inappropriate antibiotic prescribing for acute respiratory tract infections.
Journal ArticleDOI
Virtual reality as an adjunctive pain control during burn wound care in adolescent patients.
Hunter G. Hoffman,Jason N. Doctor,David R. Patterson,Gretchen J. Carrougher,Thomas A. Furness +4 more
TL;DR: It is argued that VR is a uniquely attention‐capturing medium capable of maximizing the amount of attention drawn away from the ‘real world’, allowing patients to tolerate painful procedures, and merits more attention as a potentially viable form of treatment for acute pain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nudging Guideline-Concordant Antibiotic Prescribing: A Randomized Clinical Trial
Daniella Meeker,Tara K. Knight,Mark W. Friedberg,Mark W. Friedberg,Mark W. Friedberg,Jeffrey A. Linder,Jeffrey A. Linder,Noah J. Goldstein,Craig R. Fox,Alan Rothfeld,Guillermo Diaz,Jason N. Doctor +11 more
TL;DR: Investigating the use of a behavioral "nudge" based on the principle of public commitment in encouraging the judicious use of antibiotics for acute respiratory infections found that displaying poster-sized commitment letters in examination rooms decreased inappropriate antibiotic prescribing for ARIs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time of Day and the Decision to Prescribe Antibiotics
Jeffrey A. Linder,Jeffrey A. Linder,Jason N. Doctor,Mark W. Friedberg,Mark W. Friedberg,Mark W. Friedberg,Harry Reyes Nieva,Harry Reyes Nieva,Caroline Birks,Daniella Meeker,Craig R. Fox +10 more
TL;DR: This data indicates that as court sessions wear on, judges are more likely to deny parole, the “easier” or “safer” option.
Journal ArticleDOI
Do Medicare patients with disabilities receive preventive services? A population-based study.
Leighton Chan,Jason N. Doctor,Richard F. MacLehose,Herschel W. Lawson,Roger A. Rosenblatt,Laura-Mae Baldwin,Amitabh Jha +6 more
TL;DR: Disability among Medicare patients is a significant, independent risk factor for not receiving mammograms and Pap smears, and efforts should be made to identify the most severely disabled women because they are at particular risk.
