Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and characterization of novel pH-responsive microgels based on tertiary amine methacrylates.

TL;DR: Emulsion polymerization of 2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DEA) in the presence of a bifunctional cross-linker at pH 8-9 afforded novel pH-responsive microgels of 250-700 nm diameter, which were characterized by electron microscopy and aqueous electrophoresis studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Film-Forming Vinyl Polymer/Silica Colloidal Nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this article, the surfactant-free synthesis of new, film-forming vinyl polymer/silica colloidal nanocomposites by copolymerization of 4-vinylpyridine (4VP) with either n-butyl acrylate (n-BuA) or n -butyl methacrylate(nBuMA) in the presence of an ultrafine aqueous silica sol was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of sterically stabilized polystyrene latex particles using cationic block copolymers and macromonomers and their application as stimulus-responsive particulate emulsifiers for oil-in-water emulsions.

TL;DR: The pH-dependent surface activity exhibited by selected latexes suggests potential applications as stimulus-responsive particulate emulsifiers for oil-in-water emulsions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of Varying the Oil Phase on the Behavior of pH-Responsive Latex-Based Emulsifiers: Demulsification versus Transitional Phase Inversion

TL;DR: Sterically stabilized polystyrene latexes were evaluated as pH-responsive particulate emulsifiers for the preparation of both oil- in-water and water-in-oil emulsions and proved to be stimulus-responsive: demulsification occurred rapidly on adjusting the solution pH.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of sterically-stabilised polystyrene latex particles as a pH-responsive particulate emulsifier to prepare surfactant-free oil-in-water emulsions

TL;DR: A pH-responsive, sterically-stabilised polystyrene latex is used as a particulate emulsifier for oil-in-water emulsions as mentioned in this paper.
