Journal ArticleDOI
An endogenous hybrid mRNA encodes TWE-PRIL, a functional cell surface TWEAK-APRIL fusion protein.
Bérengère Pradet-Balade,Jan Paul Medema,Marta López-Fraga,Jean-Claude Lozano,G.M. Kolfschoten,A. Picard,Carlos Martínez-A,Jose A. Garcia-Sanz,Michael Hahne +8 more
TL;DR: The different cellular localizations of TWE‐PRIL and APRIL suggest that they exert distinct biological roles, much like membrane‐bound and secreted TNF‐α.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cdk2 activity is dispensable for the onset of DNA replication during the first mitotic cycles of the sea urchin early embryo.
Jean-Luc Moreau,Francois Marqués,Abdelhamid Barakat,Philippe Schatt,Jean-Claude Lozano,Gérard Peaucellier,André Picard,Anne-Marie Genevière +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that even after inhibition of Cdk activities, the permeabilization of the nuclear membrane is required to allow a second round of DNA replication, and data suggest that during early embryogenesis Cdks activities, in particular Cdk2, are dispensable in vivo for the initiation step ofDNA replication.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Presumptive Developmental Role for a Sea Urchin Cyclin B Splice Variant
Jean-Claude Lozano,Philippe Schatt,Francois Marqués,Gérard Peaucellier,Philippe Fort,Jean-Pierre Féral,Anne-Marie Genevière,André Picard +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a splice variant–derived cyclin B is produced in sea urchin oocytes and embryos, and its microinjection prevents an initial step in MPF activation, leading to an important delay in oocyte meiosis reinitiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cyclin B synthesis and rapamycin-sensitive regulation of protein synthesis during starfish oocyte meiotic divisions.
Laure Lapasset,Bérengère Pradet-Balade,Valérie Vergé,Jean-Claude Lozano,Nathalie Oulhen,Patrick Cormier,Gérard Peaucellier +6 more
TL;DR: The immunosupressant drug rapamycin, a strong inhibitor of cap‐dependent translation, was found to prevent dissociation of 4E‐BP from the initiation factor eIF4E and to suppress correlatively a burst of global protein synthesis occurring at the G2/M transition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transcriptional versus non-transcriptional clocks: A case study in Ostreococcus
François-Yves Bouget,François-Yves Bouget,Marc Lefranc,Quentin Thommen,Benjamin Pfeuty,Jean-Claude Lozano,Philippe Schatt,Hugo Botebol,Valérie Vergé +8 more
TL;DR: This review highlights the progress made recently in the understanding of circadian clock architecture and function in Ostreococcus in the context of the marine environment.
